What HushJar is

HushJar is a jar you fill with things — ideas, plans, links, pictures — and hand to one person. They draw them out one at a time and decide what to do with each. HushJar is a service, not a product you buy or own, and these terms cover your use of it.

Your account

You need an account, and an email address or phone number we can reach you at. Keep your sign-in details to yourself: anything done with your account is treated as done by you. Tell us if you think somebody else is in it.

You must be at least 16 years old to use HushJar. If you are not, do not create an account.

What you put in a jar

What you write and upload is yours. You keep it; we store it so the service works and show it to the person you shared the jar with, and to nobody else.

Do not put anything in a jar that you do not have the right to share, and do not use HushJar to harass anybody, to send somebody sexual content they have not asked for, or to break the law. We may remove content and suspend accounts over this.

Sharing a jar

A jar is offered, not imposed. The person you name has to accept it before they see anything, and they may decline. Once they accept, their access runs on a key that expires after the window you chose, and you can revoke it at any time.

What they say about an item is theirs. You can see how many items have been drawn; you cannot see which ones, or what they decided about any of them.

Ending your account

You can delete your account from your account page. Because a jar you own may hold somebody else's private answers, we will not let one deletion erase another person's record: delete or finish with the jars you own first, then delete the account. Jars shared with you never block anything — they simply end, as if the owner had revoked them.

We may suspend or close an account that is being used to abuse somebody or to break these terms.

What we do not promise

HushJar is provided as it is. We work to keep it running and to keep your jars intact, but we do not guarantee that it will always be available, or that nothing will ever be lost. Do not use it as the only copy of something you cannot lose.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that matters, we will say so before the change takes effect. Carrying on using HushJar after that means the new terms apply.

Privacy

What we store, who can read it and what deletion destroys are set out in the Privacy Policy, which is part of this agreement.
